Bio
John Robert is a member of the technical staff in the Acquisition Support Program (ASP) at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). As part of the Navy ASP team, Mr. Robert works with defense programs and contractors to identify and manage software development risks and improve software acquisition practices. Mr. Robert's principle areas of expertise include software architecture analysis, COTS based system integration, real-time systems, component based distributed applications and distributed simulation systems.
Mr. Robert previously worked in the SEI COTS-Based Systems Initiative and participated in the SEI Component-Based Software Engineering (CBSE) internal research and development effort. Mr. Robert also worked in the SEI Technology Insertion, Demonstration & Evaluation (TIDE) program, where he managed a series of technology demonstration projects to demonstrate the benefits of utilizing advanced software technology in small manufacturing enterprises.
Prior to his work at the SEI, Mr. Robert worked at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWC-AD) as part of the aircraft distributed simulation team. As a technical project lead, Mr. Robert developed Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High Level Architecture (HLA) network applications to connect high fidelity aircraft simulators for training and R&D virtual battlefield exercises. Prior to his work at NAWC-AD, Mr. Robert worked as a software developer of embedded real-time systems for J.F. Taylor, Inc.
Mr. Robert holds a Masters of Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University.
